5 inch European style copper gutter, solid heavy duty copper brackets secured with stainless steel screws, and smooth-fitting seamless downspouts. All gutter joints were cleaned of factory oils, appropriate flux was applied and professionally soldered with soldering irons.

Replacement of a leaking copper roof dormer and flashing in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

     DM Crookshanks Copper and Slate Roofing recently replaced this round barrel-style copper roof and window well flashing on a slate roof in Shaker Heights, Ohio. We removed three layers of roofing: the original coated steel, a layer of copper sheet metal, and a layer of modified bitumen roll roofing. Previous incorrect copper roof installation issues were corrected, and broken and missing slate shingles were repaired to professional standards.

     Dormer corner flashing. The lower flashing at the corner of the dormer was installed incorrectly. We removed the existing flashing, cut the wood trim to match the slate shingles, and installed new corner flashing under the trim, eliminating the need for caulking and potential leaks at the top edge of the flashing.
     A new window had been installed with additional wood "packing" and aluminum flashing to fit an undersized replacement window.  We removed the rotting wood and aluminum flashing and installed a new copper sheet metal flashing to cover the original wood sill, eliminating any possible chance of further leakage or the need for periodic painting.

Built-in Copper Gutter Restoration

Water-damaged gutter decking, support rafters, and fascia were replaced. New copper gutter lining was installed, and badly damaged slate shingles were replaced with in-kind salvaged roofing slate to match the original.
